MIT's Committee on AI Use in Teaching, Learning, and Research Training assessed how instructors and students are currently using generative AI, identify innovations it allows and challenges it presents in teaching and assessment, and propose an AI use policy. It is very interesting reading and presents an excellent insight to the challenges facing education and thought provoking questions for consideration.
From the conlusion: AI has the potential to help our students be more productive, learn more efficiently, and build skills that can help them make a better world. What’s more ... AI’s extraordinary capabilities are already transforming the practice of scientific research, on our campus and elsewhere. But AI also imposes many disruptive risks to the process of learning, the practice of teaching, and the social fabric of residential education.
